i seem to have an issue going down stairs while simultaneously putting on clothing. i guess it stems from me often putting things like shirts on while leaving my room. this results in me entering the stairwell in states of mostly undress and then nearly falling down said stairs due to having a shirt over my head. im totally slick.
dont ask why i posted this.
i feel like iv been neglecting this journal.

now that ota is over and iv had a good rest time... i can finally really bite the bullet and work on some costumes iv wanted to get done for awhile. namely paladin Cecil from FFIV and Sima Yi from Dynasty Warriors 6. Cecil is priority. i want to get him done by october. Sima Yi looks like hes gonna be for AUSA. have some other plans here and there, nothing solidified yet. possibly something that involves TONS OF FEATHERS WOOOOO! XD

im also trying to adhere to a more solid eating schedule. iv gained some unwanted pounds in the past year, and i want to do something about it. especially now that im feeling a lot better. this winter i was in a lot of joint pain and shit, so i really didn't want to do anything (i swear im not 80yrs old). right now i just want to try to regulate what i eat plus actually hit the gym for once.

yay for so many people doing dynasty warriors!! im having a tough choice between Lie Bei and Zhuge Liang for next year. ontop of rewearing my Sun Shang XD

XD! its something iv wanted to do for ages... being shamelessly addicted to the games. i dunno... it just never really occurred to me when i was in my "hmmm what should i cosplay?!" phases. then 6 came out all shiny and stuff and i caved.
i did Ling Tong for ota this year, but he was a quickie. Then i have Sima Yi planned next, and if the whole "LETS GET TO THE GYM!:D!" works out i wanna do Zhang He. theres a few others id love to do as well here and there.

bleh, i hear yah. every time i think about getting stuff back in order as far as working out and eating right and such, there's always something else that ends up preoccupying me, or "making" me create thinly veiled excuses not to.

TUBULARLY POSSIBLE PLZ? as for FFIV (which by the way is my FAVORITE FF) id be pumped to get a good group together. granted, im planning on doing dissidia version of cecil... but its actually pretty damn close to the DS remake 3d renders, albeit more complicated and well... pretty. haha

You absolutely don't have to live with pain even if you have congenital arthritis, as I do. I have osteo rather than rheumatoid, fortunately, but it still causes problems if I do impact exercise. Basically, I have to avoid running on hard surfaces and contact sports. Tragic.

Anyway, the key to healthy joints lies in strengthening the muscles that support your joints. Aerobic exercise is wonderful, but you also want to make sure that you do your strength training, and always train the antagonists for each muscle group you work. When I take rest days from cycling, I do a little weight-bearing exercise with hand weights and/or my own body weight: knee bends, pushups, planks, shit like that. Work your core like crazy so you'll put less stress on your skeleton, too.

I also take glucosamine supplements and have noticed that my joints click less now than they did when I started taking them a couple of years ago. They don't work for everyone, but I've noticed a substantial positive effect that is not attributable to any other changes in my lifestyle. Getting plenty of Vitamin E in your diet will also help to keep your soft tissue healthy. Finally, stretch regularly!

I do squats and lunges too, hence "shit like that." I vary the exercises I do from day to day so that I engage as many different muscle groups as possible on a regular basis. In addition to push-ups, I use free weights to work my biceps and triceps...the push-ups are more for strengthening the core because they engage the abs.

Those are great points about muscle imbalance (my husband actually just sustained a knee injury caused by overdeveloped quadriceps) and overstretching. A little gentle stretching on a regular basis does just fine.

im just gonna respond to you guys HERE!!! XD
yah... i usually try and keep up with some good non impact activities. swimming is nice, and stretches. we also have an elliptical which doesn't kill my ankles.
ultimately my problem is i get really fatigued and stiff due to lymes and that has been pretty much a "comes and goes" thing for years. tho im not gonna lie. iv never been one to do heavy workouts. haha im to lazy... and i should fix that >__>;
but you both definitely have good workout standards! seriously. i know who to go to if i need help with a good regiment!

Ha, I think he'd agree that "painful" was an accurate descriptor. He did a lot of yelling in the ER, poor guy, but fortunately his kneecap tracked back into place on its own so it didn't have to be set. Once he can bend the knee again--should be about a month, he can walk on it a little but needs to keep it in a brace for now--he'll be able to do a variety of exercises to strengthen his hamstring muscles. He is active, but his quads get the bulk of the activity from his job and he never did anything extra to train the hamstrings. I've suggested that when his doctor clears him to do regular exercise again, he can ride the upright resistance bike I use on days when the weather prohibits outdoor cycling. The pedals have straps, so he'd get the "pulling" motion to strengthen the hamstrings. He also goes to the gym a couple times a week, so he can use the weight machines there to do leg curls.
